In honour of International Women’s Day, we at Sante Chiropractic and Wellness decided to devote this blog to women and Chiropractic.
In todays world we like to promote equality between women and men in all aspects of our lives. There are a few things that will remain different between both genders, specifically when it has to do with our bodies.
Ladies Only
Women have the incredible capacity to get pregnant and give birth, something men cannot do.
Yes, it is true science is evolving and there may come a day when we re-visit this idea but for the purpose of this blog we will keep it to how a womans body naturally was designed for pregnancy.
Pregnancy is a wonderful thing and does not necessarily need to be painful or difficult. Many pregnant women have benefited from chiropractic care during their entire 40 week gestation period. It can help as the body goes through changes and help on the day of the delivery. A recent study showed that women receiving chiropractic care during their pregnancy have a 24% shorter labor time for a first pregnancy and 39% shorter for a second or third one. Also, the studied revealed the need for analgesics during labour is reduce by 50%.
PMS is also something that only women are dealing with. Some PMS symptoms can be headaches, cramps, back pain, etc. The symptoms can vary from one woman to another, but regular chiropractic care can help deal with those monthly symptoms.
So just how can chiropractic care help?
With regular chiropractic care your doctor is able to adjust your spine and by doing so ensures that your nervous system is able to communicate with the rest of your body more effectively.
This communication greatly impacts your pain receptors and how your body responds. Regular adjustments also helps the body to be more balanced and reduces overall symptoms.
Another issue that affects women is Osteoporosis. This particular condition is not limited to women but it does affect a larger percentage of them. It is estimated that 80% of women over 80 will suffer from it to a certain degree. Osteoporosis is a diminution of the bone density; there is less calcium in your bone and that makes them less solid.
Some Known Facts
The amount of calcium absorbed by your bones peeks at the age of 30. After that age, the body stops storing calcium in your bones. Even though your body is no longer storing calcium, it is very important to keep a good calcium intake as the body needs calcium to function. If there is no available calcium the body begins to take the calcium in your bones.
Being active is one of the most important ways to prevent osteoporosis. Your Chiropractor can help you be more active by ensuring your body is well aligned and help with your mobility to enjoy plenty of activities.
If you already suffer from osteoporosis there are different techniques the chiropractor can use to adjust your spine that continues to be safe and efficient.
Todays post was mainly for women, however remember that chiropractic care is not limited to a certain age or gender, it can benefit everyone.
