Sciatica Relief

Do you have numbness, tingling or pain shooting down your leg?

Does your low back seem to go in spams easily, seemingly unprovoked?

Is it hard for you to sit for prolonged periods of time without feeling the need to stand up to ease your leg pain or regain feeling?

Want Sciatica Relief?

You may be suffering from a condition called Sciatica. Millions of people experience sciatic nerve pain, so if you are suffering you are not alone. Some experts estimate that up to 40 percent of people will experience sciatica at least once in their life.  The sciatic nerve is a large nerve fiber that begins in the lower back and runs through the buttocks and down the lower limb.  It is the longest and widest single nerve in the human body. Sciatica pain is one of the most common forms of pain caused by compression of the spinal nerves in the lower back, and the leg pain is usually much worse than the back pain.

What is Sciatica?

Sciatica is not a disorder, rather a symptom.  Anything that places pressure on a lumbar nerve root can cause pain in parts, or all, of the sciatic nerve.  Symptoms can include lower back pain, numbness or weakness in parts of the foot or leg, buttock pain, feelings of pins and needles or tingling, and general difficulty in moving or controlling the leg.  Typically, the symptoms are felt on only one side of the body. Pain may start off slowly, however, it may get worse at night, after standing or sitting for long periods of time, or when you sneeze, cough or laugh.

If your spine has been out of alignment for some time, your body has had to compensate. Sciatica is most often the result of a misaligned lower spine that can compress a nerve causing it to become irritated and inflamed. This can be caused by injury, trauma, or repetitive strains and movements.

If not taken care of, sciatica can lead to excruciating pain, which often means relying on opioid drugs to complete your daily responsibilities. Pain caused by sciatica can also prompt you to have improper posture and walking habits due to overcompensating for the pain; this can lead to an array of other issues and injuries within your body.

How to Get Lasting Relief

If you have vertebrates that are out of alignment, abnormal spinal mechanics or a herniated disc, you will most likely not be able to stretch yourself out of this one. Indeed, there are exercises that you can do to aid in alleviating the pain for temporary periods but you need help from a health professional that will help you regain proper function and mobility. It will also require time as it takes time for the body to heal itself once your spine is properly aligned.

Pain associated with sciatica can be severe, however, most cases will resolve with conservative help, including chiropractic care, in just a few weeks. You can be pain-free again and prevent the disc from bulging, or bulging more, and prevent further degenerative disc disease (DDD). With visits to a Chiropractor, you can be back to your regular routine in no time.

Dr. Nathalie has been a key part of my health and wellness plan for close to 10 years. Regular adjustments help manage my pain, my sleep and even my mood. And when things arise that are out of the ordinary, like the significant pain I was having in my left hip for the past 10 days (that my family Dr. could not diagnose), Dr. Nathalie figured it out in minutes and knew just what to do! After only one adjustment and some minor manipulations, plus some exercises to do at home, I can already feel that I am on the path to healing. Thanks Dr. Nathalie for your expertise, your genuine desire to help and for all that you do!
