1. Greco Fitness [Multiple Locations]
You’ve probably heard of Greco Fitness before. Heck, you may even train there! There are 14 Greco locations across Ontario and that number keeps on growing. Their claim to fame is their ever so popular “Lean & Fit” class. The 45-minute full body conditioning circuit is offered 7 days a week at various times throughout the day. The circuits are always changing, so it’s unlikely you will do the same workout twice. The best part is that you set your own pace, so it doesn’t matter what skill level you’re at! Beyond “Lean &Fit” they also offer kickboxing, martial arts, HIIT workouts and personal training!
2. iNSiDE Out STUDiO barre [1416 Wellington Street West]
Popular with celebrities, barre fitness is a unique combination of strength training, yoga, Pilates and ballet barre that allows you to work on individual muscle groups. Using tiny isometric movements, barre fitness allows you to burn fat and sculpt muscles—helping you achieve a long, lean, and toned body. iNSiDE Out STUDiO offers several 60-minute “STUDiO Barre” classes a day. They also offer an express class, core class and baby wearing class!
3. Ottawa Pole Fitness [1066 Somerset Street West]
Believe it or not, pole dancing is a great way to burn fat, build lean muscle and increase your flexibility and coordination. Not to mention, it’s a known confidence booster. Ottawa Pole Fitness offers both private and group classes that are designed to be taken once a week on a day and time that best fits into your busy schedule. For those really looking to try something different, the gym also offers Aerial Fitness classes. Who knows, maybe you will be the next Cirque de Soleil star!
4. Moksha Yoga Ottawa [Multiple Locations]
By now, most of us have heard about yoga and probably even taken a class or two. Those looking to add more Zen to their life should consider a membership at Moksha Yoga. With locations across the world (and one right here in Orleans), Moksha knows what they are doing! So, what is “Moksha”? Moksha Hot Yoga is a unique yoga series that combines the precision of therapeutic yoga and the foundations of traditional yoga in a specially heated room. Moksha offers several different classes per day for various skill levels. What’s more, not all classes are heated. If hot yoga isn’t your thing, sign up for a non heated Yin Yoga class!
5. Wheelhouse Cycle Inc. [1279 Wellington Street West]
Half dance party/half interval session, inhibitions and fat melt away when the lights are dimmed and the music is blaring! We all know that cycling is great for strengthening legs and getting your heart rate up, but Wheelhouse doesn’t just stop there! While cycling, your instructor guides you through various upper body movements to make sure you get a full body workout. Ready to get your groove on? Wheelhouse offers multiple classes throughout the day ranging from 50 to 75 minutes.
6. EvoStudio [200 Vanguard Dr]
Proper movement and mobility is essential when it comes to health and wellbeing, and Evo Studio recognizes this. Their ‘Evo Fit’ class focuses on strengthening the most common at-risk areas of the body (ankles, wrists, hips and back) by working basic body movements. You’ll learn proper form, build strength and have a blast while doing it. The Studio also offers HIIT training and a variety of yoga classes, including Yoga Tune Up.
7. 9Round [5160 Innes Rd.]
30 minutes, no class times: 9Round is the perfect solution for busy people. Not to mention, it’s a great way to burn off some stress! Punch and kick your way through this kickboxing themed fitness program that incorporates functional, interval, cardiovascular, and circuit training regimens. A trainer is always in the ring to guide you through your workouts and ensure you are using proper form!
