Thirty years in practice, 30 Years of Santé. It still amazes me to say it out loud.
As I sat down to reflect on these past three decades, the memories came pouring in: faces of patients I’ll never forget, staff who became like family, the breakthroughs, the challenges, and the countless lessons learned along the way that have shaped me both as a person and as the practitioner I am today.
I also found myself digging through old photos from events we hosted at the clinic over the years, celebrating patients, highlighting our “Child or Patient of the Month,” community events, workshops, and so many moments that reminded me this clinic has always been about more than appointments. It has been about relationships, growth, and having the privilege of being part of people’s lives beyond just their health, through different seasons, milestones, and chapters over the years.
I want to take this opportunity to share a bit of my story with you, along with some of the wisdom this journey has taught me.
Where It All Started

My path to chiropractic began at the University of Ottawa, where I graduated with a degree in human kinetics in 1992. Even back then, I was fascinated by the human body; how it moves, how it heals, how lifestyle and movement shape who we become. Human kinetics gave me a strong foundation in anatomy, physiology, and biomechanics, but I knew I wanted to do something more hands-on, something that would let me work directly with people to help them heal.
That’s when I made what felt like a pretty bold leap: I headed to chiropractic college in Toronto. As a young woman from Montebello who barely spoke English, looking back, I sometimes wonder what I was thinking! Lectures in a second language, dense textbooks full of medical terminology, exams that felt twice as hard because I was translating in my head, it was a real challenge. But I made it work. I leaned on classmates, I studied harder, and I refused to give up. Today, I’m proud to say that experience shaped me in ways I couldn’t have predicted.
It taught me something I carry into my practice every single day: with determination, patience, and the right support, anyone can adapt, grow, and thrive in unfamiliar territory. That’s a message I share often with patients who feel overwhelmed by a new diagnosis or a lifestyle change that feels impossible. We can do hard things with the proper guidance and determination.
The Early Years
Once I earned my license, I packed up and headed to Montreal for a year, where I covered for chiropractors who were on maternity leave, sick leave, or vacation. I bounced between several different offices, and honestly, it was one of the best things I could have done as a young chiropractor.
Every clinic had its own personality—different techniques, different patient demographics, different philosophies of care. I got to see what worked, what didn’t, and what kind of practitioner I wanted to be. By the end of that year, I had not only sharpened my clinical skills but also developed a clearer vision of the kind of practice I wanted to build.
The following year, I returned to Ottawa and began working as an associate doctor in both Orléans and the south end of the city. I spent several years balancing both practices while building my patient base, gaining experience, and slowly figuring out what I wanted the next chapter of my career to look like.
Eventually, I opened my own clinic at the location where I still practice today. Walking into that space for the first time as the owner was one of the proudest moments of my professional life. It was scary, exciting, humbling, and exhilarating all at once.
The Evolution of Santé
The clinic’s name has changed a few times over the years, and each rebrand reflects where I was in my professional journey.
We started as Orléans Town Centre and Family Chiropractic, a name that made it clear we were here for the whole family, neighbours helping neighbours. Then we became Creating Wellness Beauchamp Chiropractic, when we joined a US-based health and wellness affiliate that emphasized measuring wellness scores and looking at health through a lifestyle lens. That partnership really opened my eyes to how much chiropractic could be part of a bigger conversation about whole-person wellness.
Eventually, we became what you know today: Santé Chiropractic and Wellness Centre, a name that reflects everything I’ve come to believe about health. Santé means “health” in French, and that simple word captures it all: not just the absence of pain, but vibrant, full, energetic, sustainable wellness.

Each chapter of the clinic brought new learning, new tools, and a deeper commitment to whole-person care. My passion for education eventually led me to pursue further training with the Institute of Functional Medicine, which transformed the way I look at health.
Functional medicine deepened something chiropractic had already taught me: to ask why. Why is this person experiencing these symptoms? What systems are out of balance? What underlying factors may be contributing to how they feel? That way of thinking has become central to how I work with patients and how I approach health overall.
That same passion for education also led me to write 6 books over the years because I’ve always believed that giving people the knowledge and tools to take charge of their own health is just as important as the hands-on care I provide in the clinic.
The People Who Made It Possible
I want to take a moment to say this loud and clear: I could not have done this on my own.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with absolutely incredible staff—front desk team members, associate practitioners, and so many bright, energetic students from the University of Ottawa and Carleton University, often studying health sciences or business. I’ve always loved hiring students because they bring fresh perspectives, sharp curiosity, and a genuine desire to learn. In return, I’ve been able to mentor them, partner with them, and provide them with real-world experience they can take into their own careers.
What’s been so beautiful is that many of these former staff members are still patients, still friends, and still part of my life today. Many have gone on to become business owners and wellness professionals themselves. I get updates on their big life events, their kids, their careers, and every time, I’m reminded of how lucky I am to have been even a small part of their journey.
What’s Changed in 30 Years
Practicing chiropractic in 2026 is very different from when I began my practice in 1996, and it’s worth taking a moment to reflect on what’s shifted.
Thirty years ago, most patients only thought about their health when something went wrong. Now, people are tracking their sleep, paying attention to their nutrition, asking smart questions about supplements, prioritizing mental health, and recognizing that their daily habits matter. It is encouraging to see that more people are intently focused on prevention, lifestyle, and proactive health than they used to be. That awareness is a beautiful thing, and it makes my job so much more rewarding.
The downside is that we now live in an instant-gratification culture and have become accustomed to immediate results. Think about it: you can order something online tonight and have it delivered tomorrow. You can get your grocery shopping done without ever leaving the house. We’re surrounded by speed, convenience, and on-demand everything. So when it comes to our health, it’s no wonder people expect the same thing—take this pill, do this exercise, book this one appointment, and poof, problem solved. But the body simply doesn’t operate this way.
As I tell my patients all the time, if you break a bone, it’s going to take a minimum of four to six weeks to heal. It doesn’t matter who you are, what you do, or how much money is in your bank account. Healing takes time. The body has its own intelligence and its own pace. We can support it, nurture it, and optimize it, but we can’t shortcut it. That’s the part I find myself explaining more now than I ever did before, and it’s one of the most important conversations I have.
Another double-edged sword we are facing is information overload. There’s more health content available now than at any other time in history. Podcasts, social media, YouTube, blogs, articles, books, documentaries, you name it. People have access to an incredible amount of knowledge at their fingertips, which is wonderful in many ways. But it can also leave them feeling overwhelmed, confused, or pulled in a hundred different directions.
Part of my role is helping people navigate the overwhelming amount of health information out there and determine what actually makes sense for them, for their body, and for this stage of their life. As I often say, helping people understand “what to explore and what to ignore.”
Healthcare has also evolved technologically. We have better diagnostics, better imaging, and a better understanding of conditions like chronic inflammation, gut health, hormones, and the nervous system. We understand the brain-body connection in ways we didn’t before. All of this gives us more tools to help people, and that’s exciting.

Why I Do What I Do
At the heart of it all, I do this work because I love it. I feel incredibly grateful to be a chiropractor and to have the chance every single day to help people feel better, move better, and live better. Yes, helping people get out of pain is rewarding. There’s nothing like seeing someone get back to the activities they love after months or even years of suffering. But what truly drives me is helping people build better, healthier lives over the long term.
Education and empowerment are at the heart of everything I do. Long before health content became mainstream online, I was blogging and sending a weekly newsletter consistently for more than 15 years because I’ve always believed patients deserve to better understand their bodies and their health choices.
My goal has always been to give people the understanding, the habits, and the confidence to take ownership of their health. I want every person who comes through our doors to leave a little wiser, a little stronger, and a little more equipped to thrive.
What’s Next?
I’ve been asked recently whether I plan on retiring or slowing down anytime soon, and my answer is always the same: not yet… and likely never fully
I still genuinely love what I do. I love working with patients, continuing to learn, asking better questions, and finding new ways to support people’s health and well-being. Helping people feel and function better is something that continues to give me purpose, and it’s not something I see myself stepping away from anytime soon.
If anything, I feel like I’m just getting started in some ways. There’s so much more I want to do: more writing, more teaching, more community outreach, more reaching beyond the four walls of the clinic to help people I may never meet in person. The world needs more voices advocating for proactive, preventive, root-cause health, and I want to be one of them.
A Heartfelt Thank You
To my patients, thank you for trusting me with your health. Some of you have been with me since the very beginning, and you’ve allowed me to be part of your lives through pregnancies, injuries, milestones, hard times, and good times. That trust is sacred, and I don’t take it lightly.
To my staff, past and present, thank you for showing up every day with your skills, your laughter, your dedication, and your heart. Santé is what it is because of you.
To my family and friends—thank you for cheering me on through every new venture, every book launch, every hard day, every joyful win.
And to the people of Orléans and the surrounding area, thank you for your trust and support over the years. It has been a privilege to care for so many individuals and families, some for decades and others more recently. I never take that trust lightly.
Here’s to many more years of health, growth, and connection. Let’s keep moving, keep learning, and keep striving to live healthier, stronger lives together.
Merci!
